キンシバイはオトギリソウ科オトギリソウ属の半落葉小低木。中国原産で、日本には江戸時代に渡来しました。

キンシバイの花は花弁が５枚で形が梅に似ていること、黄色い雄しべが金色の糸のように見えることが、金糸梅という名前の由来です。
