ハンゲショウはドクダミ科の多年草です。日本では本州から四国、九州まで、国外では朝鮮半島から中国、台湾、ベトナム、フィリピンまで分布し、野山の水辺や湿地で群生。精油成分を含んでドクダミのような臭気があり、生薬「三白草」として利尿、解毒、解熱にも用いられます。
