ヘリオプシス
ヘリオプシスの名前
ヘリオプシスはキク科ヘリオプシス属の多年草です。属名はラテン語のヘリオス（太陽）とオプシス（似た）を合わせて「太陽のような」という意味。原産地はアメリカ合衆国の南部です。
ヘリオプシスの種類
日本でよく見かけられるヘリオプシスは草丈１mくらいで、おもに２種類。一つは各地で帰化が進んでいるキクイモモドキです。もう一つは花壇などで栽培が広がっているヒマワリモドキ。
キクイモモドキとヒマワリモドキ
同属のキクイモモドキとヒマワリモドキは花が似ているものの葉に違いがあります。キクイモモドキの葉は卵型で表面がザラザラ。一方のヒマワリモドキの葉は細長く表面がツルツルです。
キクイモとキクイモモドキ
キクイモとキクイモモドキも外観が似ているものの違いはあります。キクイモはヒマワリ属で葉の鋸歯が目立たず、花床が半球形。キクイモモドキは葉の鋸歯が目立ち、花床が円錐形です。
ヘリオプシスとヘリアンサス
ヘリオプシスはヘリアンサス（ヒマワリ属）と比べて、咲いた花が散りにくいという特徴があります。そのため、切り花として花もちが良いだけでなく、ドライフラワーにも向いています。

False sunflower and Heliopsis
The same genus, False sunflower and Heliopsis, have similar flowers but different leaves. The leaves of Jerusalem artichoke are egg-shaped and the surface is rough. On the other hand, the leaves of Heliopsis are elongated and have a smooth surface.
Jerusalem artichoke and false sunflower
Jerusalem artichoke and Jerusalem artichoke are similar in appearance, but there are differences. Jerusalem artichoke belongs to the genus Sunflower, and the serrations on the leaves are inconspicuous, and the flower bed is hemispherical. The false sunflower has conspicuous serrations on the leaves and a conical flower bed.
