ユリオプスデージーはキク科の常緑低木です。原産地は南アフリカの西ケープ州で、原種は陽当たりと水はけのよい砂岩の斜面に自生。日本へは1972年に米国経由で渡来しました。屋内で鉢植えされるほか、寒さに強いため、屋外で地植えも。花言葉は「夫婦円満」「明るい愛」です。

ユリオプスデージーは枝葉に柔らかい毛が密生して銀白色。葉は互生し、縁に深い切れ込みが入ります。花は周りが舌状の雌性花、真ん中が筒状の両性花。花冠は舌状花12～14枚の一重咲きですが、やや耐寒性が劣るものの八重咲き種「ティアラミキ」もあります。花後は痩果で結実。

ユリオプスデージーの近縁、クリサンセモイデス種「マーガレットコスモス」は花が似ているものの、咲く時期が夏から秋までと早く、葉に毛がなく、光沢があり、浅い切れ込み。また、ウィルギネウス種「ゴールデンクラッカー」は、小さな花と葉が密に着いて可愛らしい容姿です。

In addition to being planted indoors in a pot, it is also resistant to cold, so it can be planted outdoors in the ground.
