パフィオペディルムの概要
パフィオペディルムはラン科トキワラン属の地生ラン。インド北部のデカン高原、ヒマラヤ～中国南部、フィリピン、ニューギニア、ブーゲンビル島など、熱帯～亜熱帯に分布しています。腐植質に富む林床、石灰岩地、落ち葉が積もる斜面などに自生。花言葉は「優雅な装い」です。
パフィオペディルムの名前

The stems are very short, and the leaves grow alternately in a rosette shape. The leaves are elongated, oval, and have a dull luster. A flower stalk grows upright from the center of the plant. The flowers have a swollen lip and lateral petals that extend out to the sides.
Paphiopedilum insigne is a core species group. The flowers are large, yellow-green, with purple-brown spots on the dorsal sepals. Paphiopedilum callosum is a central species in the Maudiae group. The leaves are mottled, and the flowers are neatly shaped. Paphiopedilum rothschildianum is a central species in the polyfloral Parvisepalum group. It produces numerous large flowers.
